Since my latest photo booth experiment with pink velour pants, I am in the mood for a sleepover. Preferably Blair Waldorf style with candy cotton, popcorn machine and boytoy servants.
It was early in the morning. Grey and windy. Piles of clothes surrounded by low-society and myself. Once touching a piece of pastel pink woolen velvet, a teethless man smiled at me and said: 'Take it, it's yours now.'
Camp is an aesthetic sensibility that regards something as appealing because of its bad taste and ironic value. When the usage appeared in 1909 it denoted: ostentatious, exaggerated, affected and theatrical. By the middle of the 1970s the definition comprised: banality, artifice, mediocrity and ostentation so extreme as to have perversely sophisticated appeal. I am pseudo-intellectual camp.
When the essence of Kim Kardashian and Nicole Scherzinger is injected into male genes, sexual characteristics become manifest. As a result, the intermediate state of being is replaced by exaggerated virility.
From Eva Hesse to Beyoncé Knowles. Again, latex appears as a catalyst for anti-establishment revolt. Whereas the mutual motif is breaking artistical and social taboos, the ultimate driving force of pop will always remain 'sex sells'.
In Eva Hesse's work, the use of 'worthless' materials such as latex, fiberglass and plastic refers to the industrial ruins of a defeated German nation. By reinventing sculpture through aesthetic insubordination, she performs her very own, personal protest.
Presumably, the scandal series will find a new climax every season. And most probably, the cast will always feature familiar names. But in the end, that's what we love about sequels. Same same but different. And Miuccia will always win.
A fragile addition to our investigation on twins in contemporary art. Flowers attached on parallel strings. Leading to and embedded in mirrored blocks of concrete.
The anti-fur, pro-vegan mash-up of Jeff Koons and Isa Genzken. Polished silver plates, crunched. Presumably non-disposable, non-recyclable. Foreverwear. The perfect addition to any private collection.
Welcome to my temporary home. Located in a dirty side street. Cheap materials, randomly placed. Dysfunctional electronic equipment, plastic and papier mâché furniture. Dear and true to a new WTF DIY mentality.
